About 3 years ago I found this amazing designer, Orla Kiely at Anthropologie.  I was so drawn to her vintage and simplistic prints.  I bought “the big zip wallet” for a $88.oo which usually is about 3 times my usual wallet budget.

  But let me  personally vouch for this London based designer!  This is by far the best, most durable, easy to clean, fits everything and cutest wallet I have EVER owned.  I was able to have it for a year and I could of had it longer if I kept it a little cleaner (my bad).  I bought another one this year (picture above).  I know many of her customers must be repeats!

     I get so many compliments on it and now her intriguing patterns have become increasingly popular!  Check out some of her stuff I posted below. Orla initailly started out with handbags and wallets and now has expanded to clothing and even a home line at target! (WATCH FUN VIDEO) This product is worth every penny.

    The quality is outstanding!  I don’t think I will ever get enough of her vision for an adorable and long lasting line of fashion items that embody a retro 60’s and 70’s conservative vibe with a modern vintage twist!

   Finally!  I think the reason I love this “Tulu” clutch from bevello is because the purple floral print on the strap  is so reminiscent of the Orla Kiely prints.  Bevello, online clothing boutique specializes in researching emerging independent designers such as “Tulu” that bring cuteness and joy into everyones closet!

HOW:

I’d dress up the harem pants with a brightly colored ruffle top, and accent the look with a vintage pillbox hat to add that extra oomph. You could go crazy with some super colorful stilettos, or keep it simple with basic black pumps. The long birdcage necklace adds the perfect touch of whimsy.

kelly thore: resident bevello newbie!

Hi, bvers!

I’m the newest addition to the bevello team and I’ll be blogging a lot this summer, so I thought I’d take a second to introduce myself!

I’m a rising senior at the University of North Carolina and I love everything Tar Heel (especially when we’re talking Wayne Ellington). I’m studying journalism and Spanish, and I lovelovelove women’s magazines.

I’ve been shopping ever since I came out of the womb, so, naturally, I have a passion for all things fashion. I love finding truly unique, striking pieces -– that’s why I’m so pumped to be working with bevello!  I’ve only been an intern for like 126 hours  (not that I’m counting…) and I’m already falling in love. So, for my very first blog post, I thought I’d share some of my favorite bevellonian pieces with you bevelloggers!

I LOVE this scarf. It’s so different than anything I’ve ever seen before. The scrunch just adds so much volume to an outfit — a definite eye-catcher! I may or may not have just purchased this. (OK, I totally did.)

WWD: What’s the New Lipstick?

This year was the first time that I had heard of the lipstick effect.  Basically when the economy is down, lipstick sales soar.  Why you ask? Well, lipstick is the one purchase that is fairly cheap (depending on what cosmetic line you use) and can make a women feel good about herself!  I’m not sure if a lip gloss or lipstick would really quench my thirst, but here’s what WWD has to say about it:

” The phenomenon,known as the lipstick effect, dates back to The Great Depression and has provided bright spots in otherwise dull retail landscapes.  Meanwhile, Estee Lauder chairman Leonard Lauder added credence to the economic indictor when he coined the “Lipstick Index” post 9/11.  The sqaure root of the concept is an easy, feel-good item that offers a quick and affordable fix.”

   I agree.  Accessories are key in fashion.  It takes a blah and boring dress or shirt and adds that much needed POP!  Its an acquired skill. One that I myself need to work on.  I am so focused on my outfit and shoes that I regularly forget to put on accessories!

The reason I love accessories? 

  It doesn’t matter what size you are!  Accessories look great on everyone size 2 to 22!

Get something for Mom that she will actually use!

 

Make Mom’s Overly Happy Reaction to her Mother’s day gift be  a genuine one!

I was pretty stumped about mother’s day. My mom is amazing and definitely can not go unrecognized, however the women literally had everything! I was stumped.   What is gonna be a good mom-pleas-er?

  Then it dawned on me….What does just about every mother do….Entertain or Cook!  If they can’t cook they most likely still entertain with food cooked by someone else! and if they can’t entertain than looks like more food for you!  My mom always has these artsy serving plattters and and fun pieces to present food on. Iam no mom yet, but I know this would be way more useful than flowers and  bath beads.  The gift came packaged in Crate and Barrels totally toteable gift box! I got this idea from a blogger who used a sharpie to decorate using the black and white theme.  Probably gonna whip out my sharpie now and see what I can do.  A cute little tag comes attached! The best part, this whole gift cost me just $30.00 a Shhh don’t tell my Mom though, she thinks shes priceless =)  (….and she is)
