Sometimes I get an idea of an outfit in my head and I can’t shake it until I have created the outfit!  So here’s what my brain has conjured up!

Solid Color long Maxi Dresses with bright colored solid or print scarves!

I ve seen this around in stores and also on ladies around town. I love it! Its comfy because the knit dresses are so simple to throw on. Usually most will accessorize with either a shrug sweater or cardigan. But Im proposing the dress paired with a scarf! Not a winter wonderland heavy scarf but a light gauzy, jersey knit or silk scarf!

This is a great option for an outdoor concert or BBQ. Its dressy and so comfortable! The scarf adds accessory interest and you don’t have to worry about a necklace! Throw on some sandels and some great big earrings. Maybe add a ring or two ? and some of those cheap sandels they have everywhere right now! Use it or lose it!

At bevello we’ve been getting great response to this line.  [Ryu:] is so representative of the vision we have for bevello.  She has such vintage and feminine pieces with lots of supple fabrics and ruffles.  However the cuts are still very modern and contemporary!

Its April 22nd….. love your “Earth Day”!

By now you’ve read the countless tips on how to save your earth.  Don’t leave the water on when you brush your teeth, change your light bulbs to florescent, walk instead of drive….Blah blah blah…

I wanted to share some amazing products that are Eco-friendly with you that I absolutely love!

Handbags: Check out Kim white.  She makes these amazingly cute bags !  The fabric she uses is recycled from old cars!  I have one of these little make up bags for myself. I picked a gray, black and neon green houndstooth from a 1981 Datsun!  The fabric is so soft and extra durable since it was made for cars. They fit perfect in your purse and the material is vintage yet somehow still so current !

Shoes:   Terra Plana  is a brand new earth friendly designer shoe brand.  The company makes use of recycled materials such as quilts, Coffee Bags,Jackets; Shirts, Jeans, left over leather scraps from the car industry. Even the heels and foot beds of the shoes are made from wood from sustainable forests.

934_multiquilt_n2930_yellownubuck_nSoy Candles:    Are a great alternative to beeswax candles in many ways! Soy wax is made from a renewable source, soy wax, which is hydrogenated soybean oil.

Soy candles are cheap
Soy wax is all-natural
Soy candles last longer
Wax spills are easy to clean
Soy candles produce less soot
Scented soy candles distribute more flavour

Happy Friday Fashion bvers!

About 5 years ago when I decided that fashion ran deep in my bones, I made a life changing decision.  I abandoned my years of research, high GPA and internships in Human Resources for a career in fashion.  I knew it was a risk, switching from a career that was a “sure thing” to a cut throat and competitive industry such as fashion.  However I preservered and pursued my dream.

After a lot of bumps in the road and almost literally giving up and turning back to HR, I found bevello!  Finally, after putting in many painful years with Retail Managment, Visual Merchandising and Corporate Buying Offices; I have been able to find my place in this fashion realm.

When I first started my position as a Merchandise Assistant at Belk. Inc at the corporate offices in charlotte I asked my parents for subscription to WWD  (Women’s Wear Daily) for my birthday.  This is a pretty pricey publication but I wanted to learn the industry up and down.  For those of you who don’t know WWD is known as a highly respected publication that is “the authority for news and trends in the worlds of fashion, beauty and retail” (www.wwd.com)

Unfortunately after a year my subscription ran out and I could not afford to renew.  I also found it hard to keep up with every issue.  They just kept coming!  Because we are not close to New York and it is printed daily sometimes they would arrive 3 or 4 at time !

With our bevello blog I wanted to offer you a weekly treat!  I am going to read through our daily issues of WWD and once a week bring an informative article to keep you current in the fashion world.  My favorite articles are on what’s hot and what to expect in the coming collections.  So keep checking out bevello blog out for some great insights to what’s going down with the WWD!

This Week there are two things I wanted to share with yall!

1.) Top 10 Designers of Fall 09′

2.) Upcoming trends for Fall 09′

Sure it may seem a little early to be thinking about fall but not in the fashion industry.  Most companies are done with spring and summer and prepping for fall and making their Christmas buys.  Its always at least one or two seasons ahead in the fashion world!

So, according to WWD here is the top ten fashion designers for Fall of 09′ (in no particular order)

1) Burberry Prorsum- designer Christopher Bailey

2) Chanel- Designer Karl Lagerfield

3) Christian Dior- John Galliano

4) Comme des Garcons – designer Rei Kawakubo  (who? never heard of this designer or brand! Anyone familiar?)

5) Lanvin- Designer Alber Elbaz

6) Louis Vuitton- Designer Marc Jacobs (Still saving up for my own bag, guess the mini multi colored one ala jessica simpson that I got in atlanta doesn’t count)

7) Marc Jacobs- Designer Marc Jacobs

8) Marni -Designer Consuelo Castiglioni (ahhh Consuelo, love that name!)

9) Prada- Designer Miuccia Prada

10) Ralph Lauren- Designer Ralph Lauren

And Now for the trend report… My favorite.

The following are just highlights of the WWD editors.  I am really digging the names and the trends they spotted.  As always there are always so repeats from previous seasons. However in fashion reoccuring trends is pretty inevitable right? (Quotes from

1) Curtain Call:  “Designers manipulated drapes and swags into beguiling shapes”

Doo.Ri

2) Dark Victory: “Glamour took a turn toward the dark side in bejeweled dresses and bewitching gowns”

Since the beginning of time, a cardinal rule of fashion has been to MATCH!  Match the navy blue striped shirt with the navy blue shorts. Match the pale pink floral dress with a pale pink cardigan and then find some pale pink shoes!     Geez!  matching is a lot of work!  How are we supposed to  match everything we wear down to the very color ?

I get that outfits are good when there is a cohesive statement but WHY ? WHY? must everything be so “Matchy-Matchy!!”

If you’re a “The Hills” fanactic such as myself, you’ve heard this phrase before, which has been coined in the fashion world… The following are some  quotes from” The Hills”  where the main character LC and friend Whitney are at Teen Vogue  for their first day as interns.

”Obviously the Teen Vogue style is all about the mix,” she says. (I mean, obviously.) And poor Whitney, apparently, is less about the mix than Lauren: All Lauren gets is a little jacket to throw over her clothes with little further critique; Whitney’s belt must be removed and replaced on the spot, and Olivia must tell Whitney, while she rejiggers her prairie-skirt ensemble, ”It’s a little too matchy-matchy. We’ve kind of done the Western look.”   (Jennifer Armstrong, Entertainment Weeklyhttp://www.ew.com/ew/article/0,,1199503,00.html)

Ahh poor Whitney, she will never be able to live down being called “matchy-matchy” on national television.  Although I must say her style on “The Hills” spin-off  “The City” is anything but matchy-matchy.  Did anyone see the dress she wore on the finale where she was at the DVF function and Jay came to see her? I mean usually I am awed by her fashion sense. But oh my god- seriously I think she may have been trying to prove something by trying purposely NOT to match…. I just didn ‘t get it Whit…

7127a251bf68d3ab_whitney-port_larger

Enough on my reality binge.  Although I do love it so.  Matching should be a thing of past!

Down with the brides who insist their bridesmaids dye their shoes to match the god-awful dress that the bride purposely picked to be the most unflattering dress possible to ensure she will look the best !

Down with matching all our accessories, shoes and handbags with our outfits!

Now don’t get me wrong.  Playing off different colors in an outfit is a must! I am just saying lets not go overboard!  Get creative when mixing your outfits up.  That’s when you’re a true stylist!  Everyone can put some colors together.  But when you create a look mixing different styles and colors and you still look incredibly put together….that, my friends is a match made in heaven =)

I bet you’re asking how do I do this?  Well, its an aquired talent.  You get better with practice.  However I love looking at Lucky magazine for inspiration. I think their style editors are truly genious and put some amazing looks together that are anything but ordinary!

So whenever I think of a jumpsuit I immediately conjure up the thought of the sleek and sexy catwoman or those horrible balloon panted monstrosities my best friend Gina and I donned in the early 80’s.

Oh dear god!  That’s just wrong! In the 80’s this was considered “Dressing Up”

In the 80's this was considered "Dressing Up"

However the trend has recently turned into something quite cute and fashionable!  The easy to put together outfit is a mindless option for those “late mornings.”  I tend to be late quite often to work,no matter how hard I try.   So in my quest to make “those oops I pressed the snooze button for the 6th time” mornings go faster I actually have designated outfits in which I can throw on and go.

A jumpsuit is the PERFECT option.  All that’s required is a few layering pieces underneath or over.  These pieces are usually pretty easy to choose depending on the jump-suit’s fabric.  I love the denim ones because they double as jeans which is such a staple in any wardrobe.  But gingham, floral and linen are fun and feminine as well.

Check out a few I think are cute….

My favorite accessory for these short-suits are a cute belt! Try either a skinny belt or a thick stretchy belt. This adds definition to the onesie and also gives it the look of a top and bottom

Only Hearts    I have Jumpsuit just like this one that I got as a deal from Urban Outfitters about 3 years ago!  I love to rock it with a thick waisted belt and some animal print heels. For a casual look I throw on some wedges and a shrug or a cropped jacket!

These jumpsuits and rompers are currently all the over the place!  From low end $25.oo price points to well in the 300’s.  This fashion guru says go head take a fashion risk!  Try out one of these onesie pieces and see how many looks you can make with this versatile item.  I would love to hear how y’all are wearing yours!  Hit me up!
